You probably have heard about the movie The Dressmaker, with Kate Winslet in the lead role and Liam Hemsworth. I’ve seen it last weekend and I never thought I’d love it so much. The Dressmaker is not about fashion uniquely. It goes far beyond that. It is about being different, about living limited to what others think of you, succumbing to the criticism, be molded to what is considered to be ‘normal’, to be blinded by narrow mindedness. It makes us think how the environment where we live in has the power of shaping us, even changing the perspective of who we are and who we want to be.
Kate Winslet looks powerful in this movie. She is amazing as an actress and she looks marvellous. Now is when I speak about fashion, and how this movie once again shows how fashion can have a transformative power. More than that, the ability of uniting as any other form of Art, influencing and shaping.
The Dressmaker is the kind of movie that blends the dramatic essence of life with the comedy inherent to it. The movie that we’ll give you the chill out you need on a Friday night, and also provide you with food for your thoughts.
